Alexandra Dondeville
Alex is the owner and trainer at Mark the Spot. She has been training for 4 and a half years, with 5 years in the pet care industry.
Alex is an American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizens (CGC) evaluator, and scheduled to take her Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) exam in September. Once that exam is passed, she plans on taking courses through Animal Behavioral College for Service Dog training. Alex prides herself on constantly learning and staying up to date on all the most recent methods of training.
Alex follows the Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive (LIMA) methodology of training. According to CCPDT “LIMA describes a trainer or behavior consultant who uses the least intrusive, minimally aversive strategy out of a set of humane and effective tactics likely to succeed in achieving a training or behavior change objective. LIMA adherence also requires consultants to be adequately educated and skilled in order to ensure that the least intrusive and aversive procedure is used.
LIMA does not justify the use of punishment in lieu of other effective interventions and strategies. In the vast majority of cases, desired behavior change can be affected by focusing on the animal’s environment, physical well-being, and operant and classical interventions such as differential reinforcement of an alternative behavior, desensitization, and counter-conditioning.”

My Story
I’m Alex, the owner and trainer for Mark the Spot for Training. I have been training dogs for four and a half years. I started training in 2020, when I learned that a service dog would be beneficial to me. I looked for someone in the state who trained service dogs. I couldn’t find anyone and the person I found was asking almost $25,000, which for a high school student seems impossible. So I read, watched videos, attended seminars and went through a lot of trial and error until I had a fully trained service dog in front of me. From that I found what made me happy. I found what I was meant to do, my passion, my job that never felt like a job. From the time I was 16 I knew I wanted to be a dog trainer and nothing could stop me or change my goals.
